Research progresson the mechanisms of Tibetan medicine Gentianopsis paludosa and its chemical components againstulcerativecolitisand associated fibrosis

ABSTRACTUlcerativecolitis(UC)isachronicandrelapsing inflammatorydiseaseoftheintestine.Intestinalfibrosisrepresents aseverecomplicationandapotentialriskfactorformalignanttransformation.Gentianopsispaludosaisoneofthetraditional Tibetanedicinescommonlyusedfortreatinggastrointestinal disorderssuchasdamp-heatdiarrheaanddysentery.Itschemical compositioniscomplex,encompasingxanthones,flavonoids,terpenoids,andotherbioactivecomponents,anditexhibits propertiessuchasclearing heat,eliminating dampness,and detoxifying.Thisarticlereviewstheresearchprogressonthe pharmacodynamic material basis and mechanisms of G :paludosa against UC and associated fibrosis.Findings suggest that its extracts(e.gaqueousextract,ethylacetateextract)andactivconstituents(e.g.ydroxy-3,7,-rimethoxyanthonsolic acid,swertiamarin,luteolin)mayinhibitinflammatorycytokines,combatoxidativestress,suppresscellapotosis,regulate intestinalmicrobotaandtheirmetaboites,protecttheitestialmucosalbarier,modulateimmuneresponsesndihibitielial mesenchymal transition,throughmodulatingrelevantsignalingpathways,suchasuclearfactor-kappaB,B-cellymphom-2(Bcl2)/Bcl-2-associated X protein,and transforming growth factor- β1/Smad , thus exerting therapeutic effects against UC and its related fibrosis via these seven aspects.
