Design and Performance Investigation of a Unidirectional Motor-Driven Pruner for Ecological Gardens

Abstract:With increasing demand for ecological garden maintenance,pruning equipment faces chalenges inefficiency,stability,and environmental performance.This study presents ahigh-effciency pruning device driven byaunidirectional motor.Byoptimizing the transmisionsystem and employing acustomized lead screw-nut structure,the motor cancompletebothcuting and reseting with asingle-direction rotation,avoiding theneed formotorreversal inconventionaldevices.Finiteelementanalysis verifiedthe staticand dynamic performanceofthecuting components and transmission system,ensuring suffcient strengthand stiffnessforlong-termoperation.Calculations indicated an upper-bound required thrust of approximately65ON(designbaseline)forthe motor-lead screw underthe worst-case static condition. Under the specified dynamic simulation condition,the peak thrust was about 38ON,meeting the cuting and reset requirements with suffcient margin.Through a series of cuting experiments,the working performance of the equipment underdiffrent branch diameters was evaluated.Results demonstrated that the device outperforms traditional manual toolsand standard electric pruners in eficiencyand energyconsumption,with strong continuous operation and energysaving characteristics.The equipment is wellsuited for ecological garden maintenance,meting the high-effciencyrequirements of ecological garden operations.
