Effect Extractives on Color and Properties Dipteryx odorata Wood
Abstract:This study focuses on theeffcts extractives in Dipteryx odorata wood from South Americaonthecolorand dimensionalstabilitywood,eringatheoreticalfoundationfortheeficientutilization Dipteryxodoratawood.Employing the CIE 1976L*a*b* color space system,colorimetric parameters diverse wood colors Dipteryx odorata wood were quantitatively analyzed.Fourier transform infrared spectrometer(FTIR)andgas chromatography-mass spectrometry(GC-MS)techniques were used to characterizethe chemical composition extractives,analyzing the influence thecompositionextractivesonDipteryxodorata woodcolor.Theexistence positions extractives withinwoodwereobserved via microstructure observation.Aditionall,the impact extractives on dimensional stability wasanalyzed by testing wood's wet swellingrate and equilibrium moisture content under various constant humidities.Results demonstrated hat thecolor diffrences in Dipteryx odorata wood was mainly influencedbythe types and contentchromogenic substances in the extractives,especiallyphenols,flavonoidsandanalogs,heterocyclicompounds,and terpenes/resin acids,that the higher the content the extractives,the higher the a* value and the lower the L* value. Ray cells were onethemainlocationsextractivesinDipteryxodoratawood,affectedradialmoisture transport,thushavingasignificant impact on theradial dimensional stability wood.The findings provide technical support forregulating Dipteryx odorata woodcolorandenhancingitsoverallproperties,andlayingatheoretical foundationforthe high-valueutilization Dipteryx odorata wood.
