Abstract：National sports industry demonstration basesserve asimportant levers forpromoting thesportsindustryto becomeapillar industry thenational economy.Thisarticle selects panel datafrom 285 prefecture-level citiesin China from 2000 to 2022 and applies the Differences in-Differences （DID）method to analyze the impact and underlying mechanism nationalsports industrydemonstrationbasesontheoptimization and upgrading regional industrial structure. The study findsthat thenationalsports industrydemonstrationbases haveplayedasignificantroleinpromoting the optimizationandupgradingregional industrialstructure，andthisconclusionremainsvalidafteraseriesrobustness tests.Fromtheperspectivemechanism，the establishment the national sports industrydemonstration bases effectively promotestheoptimizationandupgrading regional industrial structure bystimulating the innovation vitalityand improving theemployment level thelabor force.Thetestresults urban locationand urban scale heterogeneity show thatthe national sportsindustrydemonstrationbasesintheeaste andcentralregions，aswellasinlarge cities，haveasignificant positiveimpactontheoptimizationand upgrading regional industrial structure.However，thenational sportsindustry demonstration bases in the western regionsand small-and medium-sized cities haveno significant impact on the optimizationand upgrading regional industrial structure.Basedon these findings，the folowing recommendationsare proposedto promote thehigh-qualitydevelopment the national sports industrydemonstrationbases：Adhereto inovation -driven development toenhance the technological innovation capacity thenational sports industrydemonstrationbases; Strengthen incentive policies tullyunleash the positiveimpact humancapitalon thenational sportsindustry demonstrationbases；Adaptto localconditionsto improve theregionaladaptability thehigh-qualitydevelopment the national sports industry demonstration bases.
