Research Progress of Nitrogen Fixing Bacteria in Remediation of Degraded Soil

AbstractHuman irrational production activities have led to severe soil degradation. Microbial remediation technology with low cost and environmentally friendly advantages has become a hot research topic in the field of soil remediation.The low available nitrogen content in degraded soils directly impacts the remediation effectiveness of microbes and plants. Nitrogen-fixing bacteria can convert atmospheric nitrogen ( N2 ) into biologically available nitrogen,boosting nitrogen levels in the environment,and playing acrucial role in the biological restoration of degraded soils. Using three typical degraded soil of saline-alkali soil,high-altitude degraded grassland,and heavy metal-contaminated soil as the cases,this article systematicall introduced the research progress of nitrogen-fixing bacteria in improving soil quality and crop resilience,and the significant role in promoting plant growth.By discussing the status and role of nitrogen-fixing bacteria in soil remediation,this article aimed to explore the important application potential of nitrogen-fixing bacteria,providing a reference for formulating future effective strategies in microbial remediation of degraded soils.
