Abstract: To enhance the interfacial properties and overall mechanical performance of ultra-high molecular weight polyethylene (UHMWPE) fabric/polyurethane laminates,tannic acid (TA)and TA-ZnO surface modification techniques are employed to strengthen the interfacial bonding between fibersand theresin matrix.The influence of the modification process on the mechanical behavior of the composites is systematically investigated. Three types of laminates are prepared through hot-pressmolding: unmodified UHMWPE/WPU,TA-modified UHMWPE @ TA/WPU, and TA- ZnO-modified UHMWPE @ TA-ZnO/WPU.The resultsreveal that TA- ZnO modification significantly improves the interfacial bonding strength of the laminates.Specifically,the interlayer peel strength ofUHMWPE @ TA-ZnO/WPU isincreased by 48.57% to reach 0.52N/mm ,and the interlayer shear strength is enhanced by 51.11% to 0.68MPa .Dynamic mechanical analysis (DMA) indicates that both the storage modulus and lossmodulus of the modified materials increase simultaneously,demonstrating enhanced energy storage and dissipationcapabilitiesunder dynamic loads.The study demonstrates that by increasing fiber roughness and introducing hydroxyl polar groups,the chemical bonding and mechanical interlocking between fibers and resin are effectively strengthened,providing an effective technical approach to addressing interfacial delamination issues in composites.
