Abstract:To explore suitable fertilization schemes and planting densities for spring maize in the main production areas of Yulin,Shaanxi Province,this study examined the effcts of three fertilization schemes and four plantingdensitieson plant traitsand yield,using two locall promoted maize varieties as experimental materials. Theresults showed thatfor both varieties,stem diameterdecreased,while plant heightand ear height increased with increasing planting density. Planting density had no significant efect on the number of kernel rows per ear, while most other ear-related traits reached higher values under thecombination of 90,OOO plants/hm² and 25% nitrogenreduction with water-soluble fertilizer containing humicacid.The yields of both varieties increasedat first and then decreased as planting density increased,with the highest yields recorded at 90,OO plants/hm2. Among all fertilization treatments,the 25% nitrogen reduction combined with humic acid water-soluble fertilizer produced the highest relative yield and benefit.
