AbstractThe theory that“all pains，itches，and soresare related to the heart”is derived from Plain Questions-Treatiseonthe SupremeTruthand Esential Principles，emphasizing that pains，itches，and soresare all related tothe heart.ProfessorMA Chaoqunexcelsindiagnosingand treating diabetic footulcers from theperspectiveof the“heart”.He posits that despitethe fact that themanifestationsiteof thisdisease is intheskinand colaterals，itsroot cause lies in the heart，which iscloselyassociated with theabnormal physiological functionsof the heartgoverning fire，theheart governing blood and vessels，andthe heart storing the spirit.Inclinical practice，hecategorizes diabetic footulcers into thesyndrome of excessive heattoxinand the syndromeof deficiencyof both qi and blood.For patientssuffering from excessive heat-toxin， thetreatment methodistoclear the heart，col the blood，purge fire，andresolvetoxins.The modifiedSimiao
Yong'an Decoction（四妙勇安汤）ischosen as the prescription. For patients with deficiency of both qi and blood，the treatmentmethod is to strengthen thespleen，nourish the heart，replenish qi，and promote the healing of sores.The modified Gubu
Decoction（顾步汤）combinedwith Bazhen Decoction（八珍汤）is chosenas the prescription.In terms of compatibility，drugs for clearing heat，promoting diuresis，dredging heart vessels，and nourishing the heart spirit arecommonly used.Additionaly，the external application of the in-hospital preparation Chuangling Liquid （疮灵液）in the form of awet compress on theulcer isutilized.Thisapproach of combining internal and external treatments has been proven to be clinically effective. One proven case is attached.
