Example Analysis of Application of Image-Based Thinking in Research on Classic Theories of Traditional Chinese Medicine

AbstractImage-basedthinkingisa method commonlyemployedinthecognitive framework of traditional Chinese scientific andcultural knowledge systems.Itservesas the cornerstonefor the theoretical construction of InnerCanon of Huangdi and embodies the essence of Chinese medical theory.Nearly allfundamental concepts in traditional Chinese medicine（TCM）were developed by ancient practitioners through observation of natural and humanphenomena，aided byimage-based thinking.By enumeratingand analyzing the application of image-based thinking in the theoretical research of TCM concepts such as“Mingmen（vitalgate）”，“Jun and Xiang（the monarch and theminister）”，"gallbladder”，and“parasiticdiseases”，thisarticle ilustratesthatthe foundational premiseof researchonclassic theories of TCMliesin preserving authenticityandinheritance. Only byreturning to image-based thinking can we trace back to the origins and true essence of the core concepts of TCM，clearly distinguish the similarities anddiferencesamong terms，address gapsinthe transmitted theoretical heritage，and avoid misinterpretations of classic theories.
