Research on the bonding process and performance of nickel edging for composite material blades

Abstract: In order to investigate the bonding process and performance between carbon fiber composite blade and leading edge nickel cladding,the three processes of nickel cladding surface sandblasting, chemical treatment and laser treatment are compared. It is found that the sandblasting process had the best effect. When the sandblasting roughness(Ra) is 1.5~1.7μm ,the bonding strength is the highest, and the shear strength could reach . Through the design of different sandblasting pressure parameters,sandblasting tests are carred out on the nickel bonded material. The results show that when the sandblasting pressure is 0.5~0.7MPa ,the surface roughness(Ra)of the nickel bonded material is 1.546~1.685μm , it is the best sandblasting parameter, the best bonding strength and the binding will not deform.The centrifugal force combined with the simulation analysis under diferent temperatures is carried out for the nickel cladding and the adhesive layer. The maximum stress of the adhesive layer appeared in the edge area near the blade root,and the shear stress of the adhesive layer under low temperature conditions is greater than that under normal temperature and high temperature conditions.
