Simulation analysis and structural optimization of off-rail process for a certain type of launcher based on Adams

Abstract:To analyze the off-rail safety during the vehicle launch process and assess the impact of initial parameter deviations on the off-rail safety,a rigid-flexible coupled multibody dynamics virtual prototype model is established using Adams.Investigations are conducted into the effects of variations in vehicle mass,center of mass,magnitude and direction of thrust,control surface load direction,and wind load direction on key parameters such as of-rail time,off-rail velocity,pitch angular rate at separation,and minimum of-rail clearance.The results show that during the launch process,the minimum off-rail clearance occurs between the front end of the launch rail and the vehicle,occurring at a moment after the front slider has slid out but before the rear slider slides out.An increase in vehicle massis found to prolong the of-rail time and raise the pitch angular velocity,while reducing the of-rail velocity and the minimum off-rail clearance, which adversely affects the of-rail safety.By implementing measures such as adding a chamfer to the front end of the launch rail,shifting the vehicle’s center of mass rearward, combined with windward launch and downward deflection of the thrust vector in high-thrust engines,the minimum off-rail clearance during the vehicle separation process is increased,thereby improving theoffrail safety.After the launch rail is improved based on the optimized design,the vehicle successfully completes flight tests,and good agreement is observed between the simulation and experimental results.
