Abstract: Constructing a clear self- awarenesspicture fromhistorical opportunities to achieve the identity recognition of a discipline is animportant issue in the development of disciplines.To address the disciplinary identity crisis in Chinese archival science,this paper constructs atwo-dimensional framework of dynamic interconstruction between disciplinary"self-identity" and "other-identity".Disciplinary self-identity focuses on the recognition of the core values, membership status and career development of the discipline by the disciplinary community. The identity of the otherin a discipline is reflectedin the evaluation and recognition of the uniqueness of disciplinary knowledge,the professionalism of the profession,and the effectiveness of cultural services by external groups.The two develop in a coordinated manner at five levels: system,practice，cognition，emotion and culture，forminga two- dimensional logical conceptual framework for the identity of the archival discipline.Based onthis framework,the study introduces the narrative identity theory to reveal its internal mechanism of strengthening the underlying logic of archival discipline identity by constructing the historical foundation of institutional identity,empowering the paradigm innovation of practical models and knowledge production，and shaping the value consensus of spiritual culture. Strategies such as deepening the narrative of the origin and foundation of the discipline,deepening the narrative of the transformation of the discipline paradigm, deepening the narrative of the social value and legitimacy of the discipline,as well as deepening the narrative of the discipline's reflective nature and future,can providea theoretical basis and practical space for constructing the identity of the Chinese archival discipline.
