Privacy-preserving decentralized recommendation system based on blockchain and federated learning

Abstract:Withtheoverloadof Intemetinformation,intellgentrecommendationsystems haveemergedandarewidelyused to recommend products,content,and services to specificusers.Yet,thesesystemsrequire large amountsofuserdatato train their models.How to ensure the privacy and securityof user data while maintaining model performance has become a pressing isue.Traditionalrecommendationsystems suferfromproblemssuch asdata sparsity,and sharing rawdata directlyalso can violateuserprivacy.This paper proposedaprivacy-preservingdecentralizedfederated learning recommendationsystem.Itutilized thepeer-to-peer networkandimmutabledatastoragefeaturesofblockchaintoensuredatasecurityandsystemdecentralization.Inthissystem,userdata wasdecomposedintoprivateparameters(containing privacyinformation)andpublicparameters (containing item feature information)through matrix factorization.Users trainedlocally,kepttheir private parameters, andshared onlythepublic parameters,which protected user privacy.Blockchain was introduced tocoordinate the training process,whereitsleaderaggregated local public parametersintoa globalpublic parameter.Users then downloadedandsynchronizedtheseparameterstoconductthenexttraininground.Furthermore,itproposedahigh-performance,low-consumption consensus mechanism basedona dynamicrandomseedalgorithm,andthe model’sprivacy-preserving performance was analyzed.Experimentsshowthatthissystemissuperiortotraditionalcentralizedlearning frameworks intermsofboth privacypro tection and recommendation accuracy,while also offering strong scalability and practical usability.
