Review of path planning algorithms for mobile robots

Abstract:Withtheadventoftheintellgenteraroboticstechnologyisbeing increasinglyappliedacrossvariousfields.Asthe coretechnologyenablingautonomousmovementinmobilerobots,eficientpathplaningnotonlyhelpsthemeasilyavoidobstacles but alsooptimizes their motion trajectories,reducesenergyconsumption,andfacilitatesrapid movement totarget points.Therefore,theimpactofpathplanningonmobilerobotscannotbeunderestimated,making itnecesarytosurveyexisting path planning algorithms formobilerobots.Firstly,basedonthedesignprinciplesof thealgorithms,this paperclassified path planningalgorithmsintotraditionalpathplanningalgorithms,sampling-basedalgorithms,inteligentoptimizationalgorithms,andlearning-basedplanningalgorithmstomoreclearlydistingushbetweendiferenttypes.Secondly,thispaperelaboratedindetailontheprinciplesandcharacteristicsofeachcategoryandsystematicallsummarizedtheimprovementsmadeby otherresearchers toaddressthe limitationsofthesealgorithms.Finall,thispaper prospectedthefuturedevelopmentdirections of path planning algorithms formobilerobots,aiming to provide references and insights forresearch in this field.
