Effects Ammonium Perchlorate RDX on the Performance Hydroxylammonium Nitrate-Based Electrically Controlled Solid Propellants

Abstract: To enhance the energy, conductivity, ignition/combustion characteristics hydroxylammonium nitrate (HAN)-based electrically controlled solid propellants (ECSPs),different ECSP formulations are prepared using ammonium perchlorate (AP) research department explosive(RDX) as additives. NASA CEA is employed to calculate compare the theoretical specific impulse combustion temperature four HAN-based ECSP formulations. The electrical conductivity the four samples was studied using AC impedance spectroscopy, while their thermal decomposition processes were investigated using synchronous thermal analysis. Combustion experiments were conducted under a voltage 200V to determine the ignition delay time burning rate. The results indicate that the addition AP or RDX increases both the theoretical specific impulse combustion temperature the propellant samples,while also raising the heat release reducing the activation energy the thermal decomposition reaction. In terms electrical conductivity,the addition AP increases the conductivity the propellnt,whereas the addition RDX reduces it,with conductivity further decreasing as the RDX content increases. Regarding combustion performance,the baseline formulation exhibits an ignition delay time 4.95 s a burning rate 0.35mm/s . The addition 10% AP shortens the ignition delay time increases the burning rate. The sample with 10% RDX shows earlier ignition a slight improvement in burning rate. However,the sample with 20% RDX experiences ignition dificulties, its burning rate drops to the lowest value. Furthermore,as the voltage increases,the ignition delay time all four samples decreases, the burning rate increases.
