Study on Co-Pyrolysis Characteristics of Waste Energetic Materials and Biomass

Abstract: To address the issues of high pollution, energy waste, and complex processes in current treatment methods for waste energetic materials, a novel approach of co-pyrolysis treatment by blending waste energetic materials with biomass (pine sawdust) is proposed,based on the exothermic nature of energetic material pyrolysis and the endothermic nature of biomass pyrolysis. This approach aims to achieve high-value utilization of their products while effectively harnessing the energy contained in waste energetic materials. First,a fixed-bed pyrolysis reactor was used to investigate the distribution and characteristics of the three-phase products from the co-pyrolysis of energetic materials and pine sawdust. Then, an Aspen plus co-pyrolysis model was established to examine the self-sustainability of the co-pyrolysis of energetic materials and pine sawdust. The results show that the yield of pyrolysis gas is positively correlated with the proportion of energetic materials in the feedstock,while the yields of pyrolysis oil and pyrolysis char show the opposite trend. CO and H2 are the main components of the pyrolysis gas from energetic materials and pine sawdust. The primary constituents of the pyrolysis oil are aldehyde compounds. When the pine sawdust processing capacity is 500kg/h and the energetic materials are blended with pine sawdust at quality ratios of 2:1 or 1:1 for co-pyrolysis,self-sustaining co-pyrolysis of the two materials is expected to be achieved, saving 2.
