AbstractDuring the15th Five-Year Plan period，itis necessary to systematicallyconstruct the curently thriving rural sports events.This study employs methods such as literature review，expert interviews，and field investigations to elucidate the fundamental concepts and main connotations of China’s rural sports event system.Basedon this，itcategorizes theevents into two major project systems from theperspective of event content： ethnic traditional sports eventsand outdoor sports events.From the perspectiveof event structure，they are divided into a verticall and horizontally interconnected classification system.From the operational level，anorganizational management system is proposed，including eventsupport systems，marketingsystems，environmental systems，and supervision systems.Finally，it is argued that the construction approach should properly handle the two pairs of relationships-development and protection，as well as inheritance and innovation-scientifically coordinate the three major entities（government，market，and society），and strictlyadhereto four fundamental principles： balancing comprehensivenessand diversity， embodying tradition and foresight， maintaining categorizationand integration，and harmonizing competitionand entertainment.This will inject stronger sportsmo一 mentum into the modernization of agriculture and rural areas during the 15th Five-Year Plan period.
