Analysis of the Causes of Overweight in Long Rail Transportation and Suggested Solutions

Abstract：China’s rail lines are mainlyconstructed with 5Oo- meter-long steel rails.The transportation of long rails in China is realized mainly by T11BK type long-rail transport train sets and seat-type flatbed train sets. Recently，the overweight problem has occurred many times during transportation，and the overweight has even exceeded the relevant provisions of the“Railway Freight Car Loading and Reinforcement Rules.”Exceeding theoverweight limit willresult in the train set being forced to stop service.This paper analyzes the causes of overweight from four aspects：loading length of rail end，loading height of train set，counterweight and running speed of train set，and summarizes the root causes of overweight on the basis of comparing the reasons for overweight. Then，six measures to solve the overweight problem are put forward，and the advantages and disadvantages of these solutions are analyzed.
