Discussion on instrument configuration and design of chemical laboratory in coal-fired power plant

Abstract: The chemical laboratory is an essential component of coal-fired power plants. In configuring the instruments and designing the laboratory, the EPC contractor should not only comply with the EPC contract requirements and relevant standards but also fully consider investment costs, as well as the operational and maintenance needs of the power plant. Taking the Indonesian 2×50 MW coal-fired power plant project as an example, the configuration of instruments and equipment in the chemical laboratory is analyzed. Adjustments to the equipment in the water analysis room, coal sampling/preparation room, coal analysis room,and oil analysis room are detailed, including reductions, eliminations,or additions based on actual requirements. Furthermore, key issues in laboratory design and potential solutions are discussed to achieve practicality, efficiency,and cost-effectiveness.
