Laparoscopic partial nephrectomy for the treatment of inflammatory myofibroblastic tumor ： a case report

ABSTRACT：ObjectiveInflammatory myofibroblastic tumor（IMT）is arare condition.Thisreport summarizes the characteristicsof IMT inorder to strengthen clinicians’understanding of this disease.Case PresentationA59-year-old femalepatient presentedwith intermitentrightflankandabdominalpainwithfeverfor1month，andarightrenal mass detected 3 weeks ago. The highest body temperature during the course of the illness was . She received symptomatic antiinfectivetreatment atanother hospital for2weeks，and the symptoms werealeviated.EnhancedCTof the lowerabdomen stronglysuggested arightrenal carcinoma，with multiple smalymph nodes intheperitonealcavityand retroperitoneum.MRI indicatedaneoplasticlesionintherightkidneywithsuspicionofchromophobecellcarcinoma.Laparoscopicpartialright nephrectomy was performed under general anesthesia，and the procedure was sucessful.Postoperative pathology showed that there wassignificantlocalized infiltrationof lymphocytesand formationof lymphoid folicles，andthe lymphnodes showed chronic inflammation.The final diagnosis was IMT.Inthe follow-upof3months，no tumorreurence was observed. ConclusionIMThasa high misdiagnosis rate.Whenimaging findings areatypical forrenalcellcarcinoma，IMTshould be suspected.The preferred treatment is laparoscopic partial nephrectomy.
