Effect calcium carbonate whiskers on the properties recycled aggregate concrete

Diagnosis,Reconstructionand Anti-disaster , 075000, ;3.Colege Chemistryand Chemical , Guangxi University,Nanning 53004, ) Abstract: To enhance the mechanical properties and chloride ion penetration resistance recycled aggregate concrete (RAC),RAC specimens were prepared by incorporating calcium carbonate whiskers (CW) with different content (volume fraction).The compressive strength,spliting tensile strength,and chloride migration coeficient were measured.The underlying mechanisms were analyzed using scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and the nitrogen adsorption method.The results indicate that the optimal performance RAC is achieved with a 25% recycled aggregate (RA)replacement rate and a 0.8% CW volume fraction. However, excessive CW incorporation leads to agglomeration,which diminishes the improvement in RAC properties.CWoptimizes the RAC matrix morphology through mechanisms such as pore-filing and crack-bridging,thereby improving its performance. These findings provide a theoretical foundation for the application CW in RAC.
