Influence of strata combination characteristics on roadway instability in near-verticalcoal-rock interbedded formations

Abstract:Aiming at the problem of asymmetric deformationand instability in the mining process of nearly vertical coal-rock interbedded roadway,this study took Wudong Coal Mine in Xinjiang asanexample,constructed a mechanical model of roadway surrounding rock partition to analyze the influence of diferent coal-rock combination characteristics on roadway stability.The results show that the surounding rock after roadway excavation can be divided into six areas.AreasIand IVare relatively stable,areas I,II,Vand VIare easily damaged,and the whole is dominated by shear failure.The distribution of soft rock aggravates asymmetric deformation and lateral shear failure.The combination characteristics ofrock strata and stresscoupling are the root causes of roadway instability.Acombined differential support scheme of“ bolt(cable) + steel strip + metal mesh + shotcrete + roof anchor cable strengthening support ” was proposed, which effectively curbed the deformation of surounding rock and greatly improved the stability of roadway.The research conclusions provide a theoretical basis for the stability evaluation and disaster prevention of near-verticalcoal-rock interbedded roadway.
