From the time he was a young boy， Sam wasahardworker.

He had little choice during the Great Depression. The only way to survive was hard work. Sam worked all sorts of jobs.

Afterhigh school，Samattended the University ofMissouri.At college Sam continued to work hard and stay busy. He worked parttime jobs to help pay for school.

Sam’s first job outof school waswith retailer J.C.Penny. He worked there asa manager before he joined the army in 1942 during World War II.
