Geography is the discipline that studies the Earth's locations，administrative divisions，and its relationshipwithhumanlife.Itcanbedividedintothree branches.

The first is mathematical geography. It examines， for instance， the Earth'srelationship with the Sun and other planets， as well as the principles of its rotation and revolution. It explains why we have the cycle of day and night and the changing seasonsof spring，summer，autumn，andwinter.

The second is physical geography. It involves the study of soil properties， the terrain of mountainsandrivers，the distribution ofanimals， plants，and minerals，climate variations，and patterns of rainfall and wind. As a result， our physical features， temperaments， customs，and evenoccupationsoften differfrom place to place.
