At theage of18，Qian Weichangwasadmitted totheDepartmentof HistoryatTsinghua University withfull marks in both Chineseand history.Butit was exactly this student who was extremely talented in literature and history but extremely weak in mathematics and physics who made a bold decision overnight： to switch from liberal arts toscience.This decisionwasmadeon September 18，1931，when Japan launched the shocking September 18th Incident and invaded three northeastern provincesof China.Afterhearingthe news onthe radio，Qian Weichang，whowas studying at Tsinghua University，slammed the table，rose to his feetand said，“l have no specific major.
