Abstract:To investigate the effects of vegetation recovery on soil potassium content and availability in sandy land,a combinationoffield samplingand laboratoryanalysis was used to studythe distribution characteristics of total potassium(TK)and available potassium (AK) indifferent soil layers of Pinus sylvestris var.mongolica plantations in Zhanggutai,as wellas their relationships with stand and soil factors.Theresultsshowed that soil TKinPinus sylvestris var.mongolica plantations increased slightlywith standage but was not statistically significant,whileTKinlow-densitystands significantlydecreased.Nosignificantdiffrences inAKcontentwere observed among standsof differentagesand densities,butAK exhibitedapronounced aggregationpattern in the 0-10cm surface layer. Stand factors,except for crown width,had no significant influence on AK variations.The (20 0-20cm , 20-40cm ,and 80-100cm soil layers were positively affected by soil water content, available phosphorus,and total nitrogen,respectively.The results providea scientific basis forsoil fertility management of Pinus sylvestris var. mongolica plantation in sandy land.
