Application of Solid Phase Extraction-Gas Chromatography in the Determination of Benzene Series Compounds in Typical Surface Water

Abstract:Asolid phase extraction-gaschromatography method was established andoptimizedforthedeterminationof benzeneseriescompounds(benzene,toluen,ethylbenzene,m/p-xylene,ando-xylene)insurface water,andthepollution characteristicsof typical waterbodiesintheYangtzeRiver Basin weresystematicallyanalyzed.Themethod exhibitedgood linearity in the range of 0.5μg/L to 100.0μg/L ,with correlation coefficients greater than 0.999 O.The limits of detection were 0.03μg/L to 0.08μg/L ,and the limits of quantification were 0.10μg/L to 0.26μg/L .The spiked recoveries ranged from 85.6% to 104.3% ,with relative standard deviations less than 8% ,meeting the requirements for the determination of tracebenzeneseriescompoundsinsurfacewater.One-yearmonitoringattentypicalsamplingsitesindicatedthat,spatially, concentrations inthedenselypopulated urbanareasofthemiddlereaches were higherthan those intheupperand lower reaches,with a maximum total mass concentration of 8.96 μg/L .Temporally,significant seasonal variation was observed, with the highest mass concentrations in winter (average of 5.86μg/L )andthe lowestin summer (average of 2.15μg/L ) Among different waterbody types,urban river sections showed the highest polutionlevels,followedby estuarine and lacustrine waters,whileriverine waters exhibitedthelowestlevels.Theseresultsprovideascientificbasisfortheprevention and control of benzene series compound pollution and for surface water quality management.
